oh my, dresses

So I am unsure of my direction at this point in time. Lately I feel like I have been bumming out a bit when I had meant to dress up more this semester. I mean bumming out as in wearing a lot of shorts and men’s v-necks, not sweatpants or flip flops or university t-shirts or any of those other college student atrocities.

What I really need in my life right now is more casual dresses. It is so easy to look put together with a dress on. All you need is some nice shoes and maybe a scarf or tights/socks and you look fab.

Someone posted this C&C dress at newestwrinkle and I think I am in love

C&C California Heather Kara Dress – $84.00

$84 is more than I would spend on a casual dress. $84 is nearing the special occasion dress range, but this dress is so simple and versatile and gorgeous that I am considering blowing some dollahz on it.

This dress is so simple but I love it. I wish there were more views of it on the site:

Velvet Torch Bubble Dress – $54

I may be trying to mature my style, but this is really fun and also on sale:

Sailboat Dress – $22.50

This is probably really unflattering but I like the colorblocks and lines

Lux Carnaby Dress – $48

This dress has a cool relaxed fit in the front and a deepdeep scoop in the back. Casual and classic, I think it is sweet. Oh Urban Outfitters. Time and time again you wrong me and yet I keep coming back to you.

Lux Deep Scoop Dress – $48

Okay you can’t go wrong with a tank dress, right? And this color is fab.

Lux Tank Dress – $38

I really like the cut/fit/material/price on this one. I just have to decide how opposed to hoods on dresses I am.

Lux Sweatshirt Dress – $29.99

This is pretty and perfect. I wish it had more colors.

Lux Sharie Dress – $58

I love the cut of this dress. I cannot decide between the poplin or polyester materials for it though.

AA Cross-Front Dress

Okay this post turned into a horrible long UO binge and I’m sure is interesting to no one but myself and now I must sleep

Marc Necklace

So for the past week or so I have been lusting after this

Marc by Marc Jacobs Bauble Watch on Chain – $125

It’s part of a line that’s been out for ages and Nordstom is the only place i could find this particular piece still hanging around. And I was going to buy it in a few days if I was still just as into it. But as of today Nordstrom no longer has it in stock. Ughghsdfsdkl

Bad luck

Italian street fashion yo

So I went to Italy like over a month ago and I just now uploaded them fotoz. As in the rest of Europe, the locals actually put time and effort into their dress and don’t throw on sparkly sweatpants from Aeropostale to go out on the street.

I’m not a legit fashion blogger and was on a trip with the fam so I could not ask the people to pose for me. Instead I took photos of them like a creep. Here are my favorites.

I snapped this dood waiting in line outside the Vatican. Seeing well dressed men on mopeds is commonplace in Rome, but I loved it. I think his shoes are fabulous as well.

Normally the cardigan over the shirt thing is kind of dull, but somehow he makes it look really casual and cool. I think it’s the way he just flung the sleeves over his shoulders. And the brown belt is genius.

This dood is like American college students if they cared just a little more. I love the colors.

I spotted this fantastic older man when we were getting on the tour bus. Everything is great about this from the bike helmet to the great shoe/sock combination.

Orange pants are usually so JCrew, but somehow this guy makes it cool. I think the friend with the cigarette helps.

I saw this couple sitting on some steps in Venice and I thought they looked so great, especially together. They both are wearing gray pinstripe bottoms and brown shoes. I think the man’s trousers with the shoes and no socks looks fab. They look so simple yet put together, and I think they are a good representation of what Italian fashion seemed to be about.

And this was the standard American tourist in Venice. Makes me kind of sad.

thingssss

For some reason I have been all like OMG I NEED RED SHORTS and I’m not really sure why. I know such a purchase would be so impractical because it’s july and fall clothes are coming out and everything and I’m really looking at boots and jackets right now, but I want them so much. I would wear them with so many things.

I tried on these at American Apparel and I loved them. They are $44 dollars which is more than I would like to spend on a July summer clothes purchase, but I could wear them with tights and things in the fall/winter right?  I’m just afraid bright colored shorts will be all passe next summer and I will have to give them away.

Stretch Bull Denim Short Shorts

Speaking of tights and shorts, I saw this photo on the flickr group wardrobe_remix and I liked it a lot.

I cannot figure out how she did fishnet tights and heels and looks cute and not trashy. I want to be able to do this so much. I am envious of people who can make fishnet tights cute. I have not bothered to buy them because I’m afraid I will just look a little skanky. Also I am jealous of heels girls. Who isn’t? But its really my goal next year at school to dress up a little more. I will stick out a lot, but I think it is nice to dress up. I bought some red wedges I did not need at all and I want to wear them out all the time.

And completely  unrelated, lookit how cute this boy I pulled off Face Hunter is!

The blush or whatever he has going on it fantastic! It totally would not work in the states, but it works in Paris! Maybe it should be able to work in America.

I am always buying clothes and then wanting more

First off I would like to brag about a fantastic purchase I made.

Fabulaire shoes on sale $15 – Rack Room Shoes

They are 23403824 times better looking in real life, so comfortable (I walked around Charlottesville in them the first time I wore them) and so perfect for going out/looking nice shoes. I love them so much! And $15! I am the best at buying shoes!

Anyways so I just ordered two sizes of those Cheap Monday jeans in the previous post so now I will no longer be a jerk and will give you guys the link so go and buy yourself some $30 Cheap Mondays.

Okay so American Apparel is the bane of my debit card. I keep buying clothes from there and then they tell me LAURA! We have 9879 more awesome clothes for you to buy and I’m all like come on guyyssss. Of course last time I ordered from TrendyBlanks.com. If you click on the wholesale link you can choose from a limited selection of aa clothes for like 1/3 of the price. I bought a bunch of shirts, a couple leotards, and a pair of mesh shorts that I am wearing right now. If you use TrendyBlanks, put my email address (nillabean87@gmail.com) where it asks who referred you and I get $20 credit! It costs you nothing so do it!

Anyways, on to the things I have been looking at. First I saw this dress at AA and I was like, I like the concept but eh.

$34 Funnel Shift Dress

But then one of my favorite posters on newestwrinkle posted herself in it and I was like omgawesomedress.

But then she’s like all gorgeous and thin and looks fantastic in everything. But she makes me want that dress so much!

Also I’m getting new glasses soon and I really want these:

$50 Carbonlite Sunglasses

But they are like $50 before I go get lenses put in them (usually like $80) and I’m afraid this whole thing with the big frames will go out of style before my eyesight gets worse again and I’ll be stuck with mad passe glasses. I love them so much though. Not sure what to do.

This vest is so overpriced, but it is so practical considering the large number of oversized tshirts and plain dresses that would go with this. I’m so torn.

$36 Unisex Solid Rib Vest

It is not possible for AA to have pictures that are not ridiculous

Also:

AA, i can’t believe you are selling this. And for so much money.

$36 poplin reversible vest

Like, there is a whole rack of these for $3 at everyone’s goodwill. You can’t do that.

ONE MORE THING

I really want some moccasins. Particularly brown ankle boot moccasins. And everyone knows Minnetonka shoes are where you turn for moccasins. I can’t decide between these two styles though:

Back Zipper Hardsole

Minnetonka 482

I think i like the 482’s a lot better. I’ve heard Minnetonka shoes are mad comfortable. I probably have too many casual shoes, but whatever. These look so effing cute with dresses and things.

Okay this post got so long. I will stop now!

OMG CHEAP MONDAY

So I think Cheap Monday jeans are so fantastic. and I was looking around the Barney’s Co-Op website and I saw these on sale for 29.99.

And so my natural response was OMGHOLYFUCK I NEED THOSE JEANS. What an awesome color! They look so fantastic! So I confirmed my size and got all excited and then Barney’s tried to charge me $12 for shipping. Fuck you, Barney’s! I am not paying $12 for $30 jeans!

I want them so bad though. Maybe i can find them somewhere else. grr

whatever I still like aa

So I finally sucked it up and made 2 american apparel purchases a few weeks ago.

Cotton Spandex Two-Toned Fitted Mini Dress $32

Oh my god I love this so much. It’s so easy and flattering. If only there was occasion to wear it casually in lynchburg. It’s a little too short to just wear around town I feel. Also I like the look and idea of it without a bra the best, but when I try that it is nipple city. I will have to find a way to remedy that. Anyways, I believe this dress is flattering on most body types, so I think everyone should go buy it now yes.

Unisex Tri-Blend Short Sleeve Deep V-Neck $18

I really was planning on only buying the dress, but AA was going to charge me a ridiculous amount for shipping and I could get free shipping if I bought $50 worth of stuff so I went ahead and got this too since I had heard how amazing and comfortable it is. And oh my god it is the most amazing shirt. I got the small size (it comes in unisex sizes), but I could have stood to get the extra small and I’m tempted to buy another one with my next AA purchase. It’s so lightweight and relaxed and comfortable, but can be dressed up quite a bit and incorporated into like any outfit. Fantastic.

Now recently I saw this leotard in a picture of a girl wearing the slim slacks and a vest over it and I was like omg love.

Cotton Spandex Jersey Halter Leotard $28

I am so tempted to buy this in a color and black or gray and wear it all the time year round. I kind of like the low-cut no bra look on smallish boobz (not crazy about it on the busty model featured above). Am I crazy?

Interlock Pencil Skirt $30

I can’t find a flattering outfit photo of this skirt on AA, but I’ve had a recent obsession with high waisted skirts and have been wearing my one polka-dotted one so much that I am tempted to buy an awesome color of this AA one considering the raving reviews I have heard about it and its versatility. I’m scared though, because while I love the high-waisted skirts knee-length skirts aren’t fantastic on me because I have big swimmer’s calves. But they look so fantastic on other people I want to try them out!

Okay sorry for the huge aa binge. I got my first paycheck and I am flipping out.

Oh Urban Outfitters

So I just wanted to say that I love these shoes so much

Encinitas Crisscross Skimmer $38 at Urban

I think I haven’t bought them yet because they seem like they might look worse in real life than they do on a screen. I’ve seen other versions of these shoes around that i love way more, but nothing for a reasonable price. I really want sandals like this though. Someone please find some for me.

Also who is not surprised that Urban ripped off the Mexican Embroidered dress that has been mad popular at thrift stores and on ebay the past few months?

Lux Embroidered Mexicana Dress $78 at Urban

Thing is, seeing has I haven’t found the original to be especially flattering on me and this one has tailoring that actually shows a waist I’d consider getting it if it wasn’t ridiculously priced.

But personally, I am shocked and appalled that Urban has not come out with a version of the hipster headband clearly seen all over lastnightsparty and the cobrasnake for months now.

Or the grandma glasses that I am seriously tired of seeing on the same sites.

Seriously, Urban Outfitters, you know the rule. If Cory Kennedy does it, you should too.

slim slacks!

So I should have made a post about this the day this happened, but I did not think about it until just now.

So the other day I received the best email ever from American Apparel:
Slim Slacks are now available online!

So I went to the site to check them out and the only colors they have available are black, dark blue, and white. Lame. I thought half the point of the slim slacks is that they come in a variety of colors. Since I somewhat recently bought black skinny pants, I will hold off until I get to an actual AA store mayhaps. I really want them in blue. Or peacock.

Anyways, here are the white slim slacks, and if you type in SLIMSLACK2007 as a promo code when you buy them online you get them 15% off.

Things

So I’m on a clothing diet right now. I haven’t bought anything in a while and I’m just trying to figure out how to make my current wardrobe work. I don’t wear like 70% of it most of the time anyways and I need to figure out how to.

Also I feel pretty uninspired lately, though there are a couple things I want.

I want a cool leather jacket.  Preferably brown. I just think it would totally work with everything I have and the style I’ve currently been getting into. It is so hard to find a quality jacket that isn’t ridiculously expensive, but I will be keeping an eye out.

Also I want like 3543 American Apparel items, but I don’t really want to order online since they aren’t that cheap and I have never tried anything on there. I really just want to save up a ridiculous quantity of money and then go wild on basic shirts, skirts, dresses, socks, and maybe a lame bathing suit. On most style sites I look at, like 50% of each girl’s outfit is AA. Maybe I will just go after school is out and drive up to rmond for the day and shop.
